| Dr. Kailash Nath Katju |
Dr Kailash Nath Katju belonged to a family originally settled at Javra in Rajasthan. He matriculated from Lahore and came to Allahabad to study law. After taking his legal degree, he started his practice at Kanpur, but returned to Allahabad in1915 to practise at the High Court. He then decided to settle down at Allahabad permanently.
Soon after independence, Dr Katju was appointed as Governor of Orissa. . In 1948, he became the Governor of West Bengal, in 1952 the Home Minister of India, in 1954 the Defence Minister and in 1956 the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh. |
